Bob has officially turned running the league over to me and has cut ties to the league.
He has added me as administrator of blog so we can continue using it for the time being.
Unlike Bob I am not retired and I work a rotating shift so I can't play games on Bob's early morning schedule. I have to work the weekend but Monday I hope to have a simple page added to my league site to post results and database
Let's finish the season and then we can see where we go from there.

GBC Operations Have Ceased
GBC Operations Have Ceased
OK guys the writing is on the wall and I’m finally catching on. With 25% of the teams open and only 50% of the remaining managers voting in the poll on reorganization, I see no reason to put more of my time into running the GBC. This is not a decision I have made in haste or with bad feelings toward anyone. Folks should do what they feel is best and there is no reason to beat this dead horse for another month to get a champion in a defunct league.
If anyone wants to complete the season on their own, the updated disk will remain available on the blog for the next couple days. After that the blog will be deleted.
I will be moving on to other interests and wish everyone well. It certainly appears to me that these types of simulation leagues/games are on their last legs.

SeaWolves are available - manager has resigned
Anyone interested in taking over the team, please let me know. This includes managers who do not have a team in the Cartwright League. In the meantime I will run the team.

Prospect Draft Information
- Approximate start date is March 1
- Timeframes/procedures as in Free Agent draft will be followed
- 10 round serpentine style in reverse order of Free Agent Draft
- Eligible Player Pool
- 1) A player must be under contract to a MLB franchise.
- 2) A player must NOT be on the current GBC disk.
- 3) A player must not have lost eligibility to be MLB rookie of the year
- Determining rookie status:
- A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has (a) exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues; or (b) accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the period of 25-player limit (excluding time in the military service and time on the disabled list).
- Identifying and tracking players drafted in the GBC Prospect Draft
- 1) It is the responsibility of each manager to identify all players taken by his team. The following information is needed to validate each pick;
- a. The prospects first and last name
- b. The MLB franchise that the prospect’s contract is held by
- c. The birth date of the prospect
- As all managers who have been involved with prospect tracking know, the above information is necessary and not just window-dressing. Players from other countries often have name and/or birth date changes and are often hard to track. Players from the U.S. often have a nickname and this often causes confusion. It is up to each manager to identify his prospect pick in such a way that the prospect can be tracked.
