M Rivera is the closer for my Naturals. He has appeared in 27 games to date and was misused by the CM on at least 7 to 9 occasions (26% to 33% of the time). So that means that he has less usage remaining for the rest of the season. This is a weakness that repeats time after time with the DMB CM.
At all times my bullpen is made up of 6 active relief pitchers and in none of the occasions were all of them tired when the CM brought Rivera into the game as other than a closer. Rivera has never appeared anyplace but closer in my MP.
Five times Rivera was brought in while the Naturals were trailing and in the second game of the season he was put in while we were 5 runs behind??? What the Hell good is a closer when you are 5 runs down????
On two occasions he was brought in when we were leading by 4 or more runs and in one of those games he was brought in to pitch 2 innings??? Why use innings when any bum can close games like this out?
On two occasions he was brought in to pitch the 8th and 9th innings with the game tied. I probably would not use him in this way and most MLB managers don’t use a top closer in this way either unless it’s a playoff game.
I note that Strat-O-Matic and now Action PC allow more detailed instructions on bullpen usage. In fact even SBS (which is free) allows for strict closer usage. I will be interested to see if Version 10 deals with this issue.

Only 4 Teams are Out of Contention 64 Games into the Season
With just over a third of the schedule completed only four teams are more than 4 games out of a playoff position. As anything can happen in a short series, that means that 20 of 24 teams are still alive for the overall championship.
The GBC has had numerous winning and losing streaks so far. Eleven losing streaks, by 10 different teams (the Bisons have had 2 streaks), of 7 or more games has occurred. The longest streak has been 11 by the Dodgers. Six teams have had winning streaks of 7 or more games with the longest streak of 11 games being owned by the Locomotives.
We have one manager opening at this time. The San Carlos Outlaws, one of the teams seemingly out of the race, are available.

My name is Dean Toso and I am taking over the Chillicothe Paints and remaning them the Asgard Aesir. I have been in DMB/PTP leagues for 20+ years and look forward to joining the GBC. I see a few names in the manager list I know. Thanks. Dean

State of Play
My wife and I caught the opening of the movie and it was very good. Not too many decent movies these days but I would recommend this one.

GBC Hitter Usage
Players are limited to 110% of their actual plate appearances/batters faced (PA/BF) and may only play in positions that they are rated for by DMB. An exception is that outfielders may play any outfield position. However, ratings will not be changed. A player may play until he reaches or exceeds his usage limitation.
Batters with less than 550 actual Plate Appearances (PAs) are limited to a maximum of 150% of their actual split PAs (versus either left handed or right handed pitchers) during regular season play. When a batter reaches or exceeds the limit versus either side, he must be removed from the active roster for the rest of the regular season.

Prospect Draft Information
- Approximate start date is March 1
- Timeframes/procedures as in Free Agent draft will be followed
- 10 round serpentine style in reverse order of Free Agent Draft
- Eligible Player Pool
- 1) A player must be under contract to a MLB franchise.
- 2) A player must NOT be on the current GBC disk.
- 3) A player must not have lost eligibility to be MLB rookie of the year
- Determining rookie status:
- A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has (a) exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues; or (b) accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the period of 25-player limit (excluding time in the military service and time on the disabled list).
- Identifying and tracking players drafted in the GBC Prospect Draft
- 1) It is the responsibility of each manager to identify all players taken by his team. The following information is needed to validate each pick;
- a. The prospects first and last name
- b. The MLB franchise that the prospect’s contract is held by
- c. The birth date of the prospect
- As all managers who have been involved with prospect tracking know, the above information is necessary and not just window-dressing. Players from other countries often have name and/or birth date changes and are often hard to track. Players from the U.S. often have a nickname and this often causes confusion. It is up to each manager to identify his prospect pick in such a way that the prospect can be tracked.
